DeSantis is a 'very dangerous individual' because he has 'already absorbed all the lessons of Trump' but doesn't have any of the baggage, an expert on Fascism argues

2: Let’s assume that I meet a woman and, despite many precautions, she ends up pregnant. Let’s also assume that my personal convictions make me firmly pro-life.

We are now in hypothetical situation where I would want this woman to carry the abortion to term, solely because of my convictions. Now this woman is an individual with her own prerogative, and she decides otherwise; her reasons shouldn’t matter but let’s say, for the sake of argument, that her reasons are serious enough to warrant a pondered consideration at the very least, (not that it should be this way but we are in a hypothetical), so she says that she carries genes for a deadly decease and for this reasons she is child free, or she has a condition (there are many) that would endanger her life.

In the above hypothesis, (again, just for the sake of argument), don’t you think that this woman should have the ultimate say regarding an abortion?

It’s very hard to find a reverse situation, but I’m willing to fetch a bit farther. Let’s say the debate was about vasectomies (we’re still in the subject of human reproduction). Should women decide if the men have the simple right to decide if they want to have them or not?

I mean, granted vasectomies are not as medically challenging as pregnancies, but some women would argue that they are against it for a variety of reasons (maybe gold diggers wouldn’t want men to be able to do it, other women would be against due to their beliefs that a man should be fruitful, etc..); and of course they should be able to form their own opinions, but the question here is should they be the individuals taken in consideration when it comes to legislation?

A child is a considerable responsibility, both financially and socially; and as I man, I should have the right to decide that I don’t want this. And I agree with you premise that even though women don’t have testicles, they can have an opinion. But what I was trying to convey is that, were this the debate at hand, their opinions shouldn’t trump my rights as a man, simply for the fact that this decision would affect my life as an individual and never theirs. They can be against it, but when we draw laws a society, they shouldn’t be able to weigh in when it comes to either giving me or stripping me of this freedom.
