Did you ever have to start over in your life? What happened and what did you do to start over?

Good for you. I'm so glad you are happily remarried. And you're so right, stuff doesn't matter. In the end, it's just stuff. I'm about to burn a lifetime of diaries because I don't want anyone to read them after I'm gone. At first, I felt that my grown child and grown grandchildren might appreciate knowing me better by having a rich source of written material.

Fast forward in time, a few years ago, my husband got sick with cancer. Our child distanced themselves from us and seems to have turned the grandchildren against us as well. Yesterday was Father's Day and he didn't hear from anyone. It makes me so sad for him.

Anyway, at this point in time, I don't want anybody to have the diaries I kept. I feel it will be a source for them to judge me even more negatively than they already obviously do.

My husband got through that initial bout of cancer but still isn't totally well. We're about to start our lives over by returning to our hometown. We haven't lived there since we were teenagers. But we feel that it's time for us to go home now.
