Why did Matty delete this tweet? Great take

Economics. Why do you think Carter's green energy research went under?

Have you heard about Integrated Assessment Models? They've existed since the 70s, they contemplate the impact of climate change within the economy and create mathematical models to analyze it.

The research on that from the last 40 years is at best poor, at worst almost non-existent and terribly organized and catalogued. Why? It receives no funding. Don't you think if it had serious funding it would attract more attention?

How about the energy market? Why do you think green alternatives aren't used? Easy, they're not competitive, so people don't want to put money in them. Or worse they're peddled by climate activists who expect the average person to pony up to their ridiculous prices because "we're doing the right thing". What has any of those fools achieved in the years they've been protesting for ages while also being anti-capitalist? Nothing.

Today the market is moving towards green and away from oil because people that understand the system know how to sell these things and make them profitable. They understand that they need to compete with non-renewables. That's why they will win.

You can say what you like about Elon Musk, but if he successfully generates demand for electric cars and shifts the market away from oil I don't care how he does it.

Yes, money solves a lot of problems and I won't have any compunctions about that if I get to raise it and put it somewhere in which it can provide a net benefit for humanity. I won't lie to you and tell you that I'm altruistic, nope I want some of that money too. Don't like that, sue me.
