District attorney says West Valley City sergeant was justified in killing a handcuffed man

It should also be noted that the gun didn't leave the holster, and the holster had multiple safeties in place to prevent it from doing so; that they could have used a taser instead of a gun; and that the guy clearly had mental issues/was under the influence and if it had been people trained for that sort of situation instead of police with guns the guy would almost certainly have been alive.

Instead, they were doing this false-questioning-banter thing with the mentally unstable person which was clearly not going to yield anything productive, then put themselves in a situation where he could grab for the gun. Because police are shoved into situations they're not adequately trained or equipped for, this dude died.
