Why does it feel like people view International students negatively?

Two different reasons to resent international students, largely against the Indian and Chinese students that come here en masse.

Indians: there's a common perception that Indians abuse the Express Entry program. There's been recent articles which support this assertion. Indians show up to barely attend school knowing that they can get a corrupt employer to lie on behalf of them and secure their residency in Canada. This, coupled with the housing crisis, breeds resentment among people who have lived here their whole lives and see insane real estate gains propped up by this.

Chinese: there's evidence of widespread money laundering in Canadian real estate by Chinese organized crime and millionaires. This has also contributed to the housing crisis where rich Chinese kids have used the downtown as their playground.

Again, there's a housing crisis. People resent foreigners coming here that push rent and real estate prices up and no one can honestly talk about it with the accusations of racism flying at you. That's also why your post has been downvoted. People are sick of not being able to talk about the elephant in the room that international students, and really uncontrolled immigration to Toronto and Vancouver largely affects.

All the best to you in your studies, but this is why you're getting the cold shoulder. Minorities and their woke friends scream "racist" and the conversation stops. But there's evidence to my claims.
