Why does Reddit hate atheists?

There are types of Christians, types of Muslims, and types of Hindus. They are unified by their positive religious beliefs, and their behavior is guided by specific sub-sets of the beliefs associated with that religion. They have beliefs associated with their specific faith that would unite them within specific groups even if there were no persecution against them.

THis is true for atheists as well. You qualified a belief in this statement as "positive" as if a negative belief isn't a thing. Thats a discussion for another place. But to focus a bit more narrowly, christians have a certain belief that Christ came and died and was resurrected. They argue about literally everything else. Seriously. Just like atheists. They even argue about which things they are allowed to argue about.

In a similar way atheist believe that they should live their life as if there is no God. (there are a few who find the pretending useful but there are also "chrstians" who don't belief Jesus was a real person). Other thoughts flow from that into what is the atheist world view. This isn't uniform. There are variations. But there are also some pretty common threads.

All that to say, you are trying really hard to distance yourself from religion. So hard that you have created some false categories such as "negative belief." And what does that buy you? Its a super awkward way of saying I believe there is no god. But its not my religion. You can use whatever language makes you happy.

What matters is that you aren't that different from the billions of people who have a belief system that includes a deity. I suspect the negative reaction you have found on reddit is related to your trying to create a separation from you and your superior thinking and all the dumb people who fall for religion.

As far as everything else you posted, you can from here on assume that I have read the /r/atheism faq. I am not ignorant of the issues.
