But it is irrelevant what he believed or what standpoint he started out with, because his result was logically flawed in any case.
Blumrich was a rocket engineer, so he interpreted the Ezekiel text from the POV of rockets. If he was a wagon maker, he would have thought it was a wagon. If he was a kite maker, it would have been a kite. You dig?
He should have been a biblical scholar, because he would then have had a proper understanding of the context of the passage.
The text is a mystical symbolic religious document that is steeped in the cultural symbolism of its time. Jewish scholars have unanimously understood this text in that vein for two thousand years. They know better than anyone in this matter. To interpret it without understanding this is a basic flaw, and why nobody takes Blumrich seriously.
Blumrich had to deliberately reinterpret the text to fit his presuppositions. You only have to read it to see this. The Ezekiel passage describes living creatures, not rockets or rotors.

There have been multiple designs derived or inspired by the Ezekiel passage by different theorists. That a technician could make a vehicle that both worked and resembles, with creative interpretation, the creatures of the Ezekiel vision in no way means that the Ezekiel vision was of such a machine. This is a failure of logic.
