Maybe I'm biased because Chan is what got me into Stray Kids but I think the very thing you said made him unsuitable is what makes him suitable. Chan is the leader of his group so he has to put his team above all else. The group caters to the needs of the fandom as all groups do. The fandom wanted answers and he gave them. You mentioned something about Woojin not being in the position to defend himself and I think both parties signed an NDA (?) so they could both technically talk about it if they skirt around the specifics.

I do think context is important to and he said the things he said about Woojin in the context of them re - recording SKZ2020. He also said something about how everyone makes mistakes but you should be mindful of how they hurt you (?). I don't think he was trying to badmouth Woojin but rather offer closure to the OT9 fans who scream his names at concerts and things so people would just... stop. Could he have done it more nicely? Maybe. But I do believe he had the right to offer closure and talk about how he felt. Gonna get downvoted but yeah.
