"We don't really need lots of relaxation. What we need is interesting, meaningful, hard activity."

I'm 36 and haven't worked in 8 years now after getting lucky with a high paying job and some real estate investments.

I figured I was going to relax for a couple years and then maybe start a business. Eight years later I'm still relaxing. I don't really like to travel and got a few international trips under my belt at a young age so I know I've had enough of that. Local trips like camping a few hours away from home are nice a few times a year just for a change of routine though.

I play a lot of sports with friends and in rec leagues. I play soccer, tennis, and ice hockey. I also love the outdoors. I have a mountain bike and an electric assist that I love exploring with. A twenty mile trail ride is pretty normal for me. I love to kayak on rivers. I drop off the kayak upstream, park my car downstream, then ride my bike back upstream to the kayak and go on a 3-10 mile paddle, then go retrieve my bike when I'm done. I like to do local day hikes on the order of 2 to 10 miles.

Love visiting museums, aquariums, public gardens, arboretums.

I love playing billiards, I play a few times a week with a close friend.

And I love video games. I like single player colony managers, base builder's, grand strategy stuff. Usually I get myself tired with exercise, then spend the next couple days binging on games.

I live alone, have a bf I see once a week or so. Also date new people sometimes. But not interested in kids or marriage.

I just love enjoying the world and playing. I feel like my life has the ultimate meaning; living an enjoyable life. I don't feel any desire to create a legacy, or make an impact, or "be productive". I'm probably just going to keep this up for as many decades as I'm able to get. If I haven't tired of it in 8 years I'm not sure I ever will.
