The "help" never talks back to her. When she was questioned she pulled out her Mom's friend. Not her friend group. Or her mom's friend "group' being diverse. It was one friend.

Between two families. Her family and theirs. Only one friend came to mind. In California, that is hard to do. Everyone, everywhere in LA is a diverse bunch of talented, artistic performing creative people from all over the globe. It is not like some places in the US that are homogeneous.

To live in LA and not have a diverse group of friends of your own, (not your mom's), is not average. It's odd. Especially given they are not hermits in LA. They are in entertainment.
