Was doing the equivalent of basic (asian military) and we were required to fold our bed sheets into perfect cubes. They generally check in the afternoon/towards the night.
One of the recruits who did a half assed effort was told to bring his whole bedding set in front of the drill sergeant. The drill sergeant proceeded to verbally rip him apart in-front of the whole platoon.
One would think he learned his lesson, but when he wrote his reflection paper(which he turned in later that night) he wrote (in poor translation):
“The sergeant thought my bed sheets look a lot like tasty dumplings. So he told me to bring it over to make him some tofu to eat along with it.”
The night consisted of a hundred grown ass men lying in their bed trying to contain their laughter while overhearing a few “DUMPLINGS” and “TOFU” while the recruit was reprimanded outside.
Didn’t see the sergeants reaction but I like to imagine they had a pretty good laugh on their own too :)
