The DZ should be the possible "shortcut" to great gear, not the exclusive way to get it. Let players play their preferred way of playing.

Lol you seem to have completely misunderstood or flat out ignored a lot of what I said, but that's okay.

What you seem to want is for someone to log on, play solo and be given the same rewards yet more quickly

Nope, not what I said. In fact, I specifically said, "it's likely to take a bit longer, which is completely understandable and reasonable".

What I'm looking for is to not be bottlenecked into two activities for most endgame gear. As of right now, the best gear, for the most part, comes from FL and from blueprints sold in the DZ that require a very high DZR. To do both of those activities with efficiency, a group that is coordinated through headsets is, at the very least, highly recommended, if not necessary.

I'm not against grouping up. I'm against bottlenecking all players into activities where headset coordination is a must. I can run a CM with a group and no coms; that's the sort of group/playstyle I'm saying needs to be more rewarding or viable.

You are claiming that the group you're talking about constitute a large part of the community because there are many of them on here. You are wrong. The amount of soloers here is not proportionally representative.

I wasn't talking about soloers. I was talking about casual players. Most casual players aren't going to be browsing reddit subs and other gaming forums, etc., so we're underrepresented here. That's why looking at the overall opinions of this sub as canon is the wrong way to go about things, because they represent a comparatively small portion of the player base. However, just because there are few of us here on this sub and in other forums, that doesn't mean a minority of people want less intense activities to be more rewarding. It just means a minority of the people who talk on here do, probably.

Do you want to get to rank 75-90 in 20 hours of DZ grinding?

Nope. Never said that either.

What about the majority of players who want to get much much more than 20 hours out of the DZ?

From what I've seen and read on this sub, grinding out ranks is far from the only thing that people do in the DZ. It looks like roving in a group of rogues/rogue-hunters is the main activity that goes on there, and people seem to have a lot of fun doing that. Are you saying that once people hit rank 99, they stop playing in the DZ, and it is no longer enjoyable? I don't even see the correlation between the two.

maybe you should offer a solution.

Sure. Do what Destiny just did. Early on, Destiny was in a similar situation. Endgame gear was attainable through one PvE activity and one PvP activity, both of which required groups coordinated over headsets. I'm a Day 1 Destiny player, and I stuck with it as long as I could, but I eventually stopped completely last October. This past April, though, they made endgame gear attainable through many different avenues. It can now be acquired through multiple different PvP and PvE activities, and only the hardest and most rewarding of those options require groups and headsets.

So, my suggestion is to do something like that with The Division. Make the rewards from com-based group activities like FL or DZ rank grinding even more rewarding, like two or three 214/240 pieces instead of one from FL - BUT also introduce other avenues for acquiring that kind of gear that don't require the kind of numbers and/or coordination that those do.

(CM missions are too easy for this, but they're my only option as an example right now) So, let's say, like a Nightfall in Destiny, once per week, there's a mission with modifiers that make it more difficult, but completion rewards one 214/240 piece, or the kind of blueprint you'd find at rank 75 in DZ03.

It would require expanding the game by offering more activities, because it hardly seems fair to make those easy story missions overly rewarding, but introducing a some new activities that are less demanding time/coordination-wise but reward gear equal in quality (not quantity) to FL and the like would be a big step in the right direction.
