Do you also think dogs of any size should free roam with cats, or is a backyard good enough? Does population density and the presence of local predators factor in? What about if a cat gets walks, has a catio, and goes on other supervised outdoor excursions like dogs do? Should domesticated bunnies and birds also be left outside to free roam?

The thing that makes jail into jail isn't being inside all the time. That's house arrest. Jail for animals is more like the pound or shelters if we are being honest.

As a question: Can you imagine if human jail cells were equivalent in size to a single cat having an entire apartment/house complete with exercise equipment, a view from a couple windows, and human toys with family visits for 8-12 hours per day?
