[ELI-1] A bunch of not so stupid questions about MMO ~~industry~~ field.

Generally, MMOs are organic, breathing worlds which receive constant updates

You are almost lying and you know that. Updates are so unfrequent that you can almost exclude them from your gameplay experience (unless you are paying for mmo and always on top). (I beleve that an average mmo has <10 updates per year) I've played a game and every update lasted less than a week for me. Games get nothing except new locations and classes.

and those developers have to be paid Why do people hire other people if they don't have money to pay them? Isn't that stupid?

This means every MMO has to have some kind of pay scheme behind it Why do players must pay for this?

Maybe down the road there's some kind of weird way where a bunch of companies sponsor a game and the game is fully paid for through ad money Why are you introduce another failed way of sponsorship?

But they have to be paid for somehow, and so they can't ever be completely "free." Do you pay for peer2peer, why should a free MMO be different?

unique log-ins a month are you kidding? month? that means 128000 per hour average. And, ISN'T it a 6x6 game? (I didn't play this kind of games yet) It's nor a MMO, neither an MO.

Additionally, higher population makes it more likely that you'll be able to find a group to do content at any time, day, or place How is it related to a thing that such low numbers as 10mln are considered big?

You announce games in advanced to generate hype. It's essentially free word-of-mouth marketing Why is it still normal in 2015 to show something to public but not release it at the same time? Why would anyone advertise a product they don't own yet? Isn't that cheating?

The goal is to allow people to enjoy the way you best see fit. Doesn't this completely annighilate any efforts of anyone who actually wants to explore something.

My main point: is the world of MMO completely frozen now? Nothing has changed during more than 2 years.
The same communities, the same topics, the same people with big money, who wants to get even bigger money by squeezing MMO fanbase. The same shameless advertisements about new content in the game wich will be out after 1-2 years. The same IP blocks and region restrictions. The same open beta with pay content. The same low quality grindy games with modern graphic which is not even a photorealistic yet.
