ELI5 - Reclaim Harvard Law

Oh, we can make it about facts. I say "1+1 = 2" then delete my comment. You then see the deleted comment and reply "strike 1 against the theory of 1+1=2".

This is an even worse example. You're comparing a self-apparent mathematical fact to a conspiratorial claim about how this is all a hoax. Come on, now. Use that rigorous thinking.

I don't actually have any personal connection to this. I asked for facts in support of a theory, and I haven't gotten any. I don't have time or the desire to dig through the garbage pile of the crappy conspiracy blog that you're defending (but definitely not endorsing).

That said, I did skim a couple of articles. It's a lot of angry ranting and assumptions leading to conclusions. These things aren't evidence. Arguments are won or lost based on presentation. It's not my job to do this crazy person's organizing for him, or to rationalize his paranoid and angry thoughts.

not sure if you are a lawyer

I am. I have a big fancy diploma and a great job and I'm surrounded by lots of smart people who'd call me a moron if I insisted on a theory without providing facts or evidence. They'd write me off as crazy if I just rambled on for paragraphs at a time without any semblance of rational organization. They'd call me an asshole if I compared peaceful political activists to Nazis. Do you know why? Because they are smart, normal people.

But I know based on our chat that you are the kind of person to run rhetorical circles around the issue without (a single time) addressing the merits.

I mean, I haven't been given any merits to this conspiracy. That's why I haven't addressed them. Asked for some. Got none. Said "that's fishy," and then you got up in arms.

But, I don't really care, and I've spent enough time on this. Since you've made it clear how much you dislike talking to me, I'll let you in on a little secret: you don't have to. You didn't have to start this conversation, or defend a conspiracy theory, or pick a fight with a total stranger, or advocate in defense of the blogosphere's equivalent of a pile of dogshit and then get upset when someone pointed out the dogshitty nature of said blog.

So anyway, this was weird, but things to do. Uh...good luck out there. Try to avoid making comparisons in your writing. It's not your strong suit.
