The infamous Yibbir clan are speculated to be originally Jewish people. "Hebrew - Ebrew- Yibbir".
The story of the Somalis claim that the Yibbir were originally magic practising pagans who had a King called Bucur Baceyr that tried to stop Islamic influence over the North but the epic Blessed man Yuusuf Barkhadle defeated him and (supposedly) imprisoned him in the mountains forever with the might of Allah. Yuusuf Barkhadle and the Muslims conquered the Yibbir country and made sure Islam became dominant in all Somali lands ending Somali ignorance and paganism for all Somalis except the Yibbir who continued their pagan practices of magic practising and animism so that's why it is justifiable that they are inferior to Somalis who are fully practising Muslims.
Obviously this is wrong because Yibbir today are almost 100% practicing Muslims like other Somalis and do not practice animism at all!
The pro-Yibbir Hebrew story is very interesting because it says that the Yibbir were semetic speaking people who had a Jewish kingdom in Northern Somali before Somali Muslims conquered their country in the 7/8th century CE. These Jews refused to convert to Islam and used to rebel against the Muslims constantly so Somalis enslaved them, force converted them and made very crazy stereotypes to spread negativity, hate and propaganda towards their people. e.g:- witchcraft practises, being descendants of cursed people and being inferiors brought on earth to do menial work and serve. the story also claims that there are still many Yibbir who practice the Jewish faith but they fear persecution and further problems for their people so they are not public about it.
Yibbir today also have a distinctive dialect influenced by their ancient Semitic language that they have preserved and still use in secrecy to this day to communicate strictly with other Yibbir people only! This supposedly helped them survive this long without getting completely wiped out.
whoever these people are, something happened to them between the 6th and 8th centuries that led to 1500 years of their severe persecution and discrimination.
