Elon Musk hints Tesla vehicles could be capable of fully autonomous driving within 6 months

My thing is, I adore them as a company and would love to own one of their cars. But personally, even with every trade-in, rebate, tax incentive, ride sharing, gas savings, and 35k tag, I couldn't fork over that kind of money on so-so credit with what I make and justify it- and this is with the knowledge I'm on a lease or loan and am paying it off. I CAN do it, but I'm not going to be able to accumulate wealth or save at the rate I'm comfortable with- which I prioritize over car ownership.

I also guess I'm old school, because I like owning my car. After doing it for almost two decades I still enjoy the actually act of driving- and will admit that 'control' is a big part of it. I'm a road trip guy, I like to go do things, I even like to sit in my car when I'm somewhere uncomfortable or at work ha big a smoke. I'm not sure it makes me an enthusiast- maybe it does- but I'm not big on ride sharing for this reason. The only time I actually WANT to ride share or taxi is in cities where it's impractical to drive to a movie, like New York New York.

That being said, I want to iterate that I do wish I could afford a 35k car made by a company as innovative and Earth/consumer friendly as Tesla, but I can't, and not many people I know can comfortably. I understand why, it's just a shame.
