This is very very sad, but it is extremely disrespectful to all of the people that died in the Holocaust to compare the two.

Actual victims of the Holocaust have made this comparison. Idk about you, but when actual victims are making this comparison, I am inclined to agree with them.

Why can’t they just both be sad?

They are, and they both involve mass genocide of an exploited "lesser".

I don’t know about you but I would rather this than thousands of children have been starved and gassed.

Oh, kind of the like millions (probably billions at this point) children from animals who are starved and gassed?

If you don’t agree and think that a human life is equal to that of a cow, that’s a bit fucked up.

I do not think humans and cow are equal, but they are equally deserving of respect and a life free of exploitation.

Luckily, most of the time we don’t have to choose and can help both but please do not disrespect the memory of those that died horrifically in the holocaust by comparing them to cows.

Again, we are not comparing humans to cows, just the actions of humans exploiting something they deem as lesser. Same action, different marginalized group. This is the animal's Holocaust, whether you want to call it that or not. This fits the definition of what it is. You don't have to like it, but that doesn't change the reality that this is indeed a holocaust.
