Current administration notwithstanding, I love the USA because I can’t imagine any other county of this size and diversity doing as well at working together. We have a love history of hating each other, of a literal civil war, of slavery over our own citizens, and the aftermath of this. The divide in this country is off the charts, and we’ve still grown to be the most powerful and influential country in the world because of our ability to work together when it matters.

We’ve suffered a lot of failures, and the current administration is a small step backward in our ability to influence the world. But the past 220 have been a fucking feat.
