I think more people are seeing it because of social media. It reminds me of what a woman told me a long time ago, that it wasn't until people in other places saw how black people were being treated in the south protecting for civil rights (firehoses blasting people down, dogs being sicced on people) that it really woke them up to what's going on and helped the civil rights movement.

I always knew there was racism but it wasnt until I saw those videos of black people being shot in the backs by cops, being murdered in the front seat of their car doing nothing wrong. Or being choked to death for selling loose cigarettes, all online, that I become furious.
