Have you ever contested a grade? Was it worth it?

Small rant incoming

I still stand by my opinion that essays should be scrapped and replaced with something else. It's as if you get graded more on the format than the actual content and your knowledge on the subject. By all means keep essays, but keep them away from examinations. Too many unis have their own agendas and formats to conform to.

I got a 40 on my last essay because there wasn't enough citing and referencing, the reason being that most of it were my own thoughts and opinions. But you're not allowed to have your own thoughts apparently.

It was about cinema and I went onto the subject of film/sensor sizes and lenses, and how they impact the look and feel, about modern cinematographers using vintage lenses ect ect blah blah.

I'm very passionate and knowledgeable about it. But shit likes that just kills your passion and motivation.
