Have you ever dated a red piller?

My one roommate -- a gamer and big redditor -- likes to talk about his dating "game", is definitely a PUA, and maybe a red-piller? I don't really know the distinction between PUA and red pill. It's weird because he's typically a good guy, but man, I wouldn't want to be at a bar with him hitting on me. One time when all of us roommates were hanging out, he started talking about how great "negging" is, and gave us a bunch of examples of times he had "negged" girls. Step 1: insult the girl with a backhanded complement. Step 2: touch her arm to "initiate touch" which will apparently set the tone. As the only woman in the house I was extremely comforted when my other four male roommates (help me, this is my life) and my boyfriend tore him a new asshole. When my very muscular, very manly-man roommate told him that negging girls is pathetic, he tried to justify it by saying he "only does it to pretty girls, who need to be taken down a peg; I wouldn't neg an ugly girl." That seems to be a common narrative among these dudes. Like uh what?

I think he turned to the PUA, red-piller type stuff after a bad breakup kind of demoralized him -- not an excuse, but a reason anyway. He once told my other roommate that he "didn't see a point" in being friends with girls -- they were only good for sex. This is baffling because he and I seem to be friends, and we chat and hang out, and we both live in a house with my boyfriend so he's definitely not trying to bang me.

There's such a specific subset of nerdy, gamer, redditor guys that end up getting sucked into the red pill shit, it's weird. I really hope he stops doing that negging shit because it's probably the reason I've never seen him bring a girl home. It's almost like a disease I hope he gets cured of, for his own sake!
