Have you ever had a mystery illness that doctors couldn't diagnose?

I've been vomiting after literally each meal since I was 17 to about 25. I didnt want to be skinny but for some reason, if I experienced the sensation of being full, I felt nauseated and extreme discomfort and indigestion. Luckily, I would typically vomit 10 min after I ate so there would be minimal stomach asset to cause havoc on my mouth and eso...(fuck cant spell it) - the throat thing.

Anyway, I stopped when I was 25 which was harder than quitting smoking but I still get intense discomfort after eating a meal. I thought there was something really wrong with my stomach and digestive system. After over 10 years of going to doctors, taking endoscopies, taking losec, adjusting my diet etc I found what the cause was lst year. It was anxiety.

It's been wired into my brain that whenever I feel full, my brain will go "oh, he can't handle all this fullness! lets release some stress hormones! and make him anxious!" The anxiety and stress will cause my stomach to tense up and reduce the blood flow which in turn causes my stomach to not perform its role and give a sensation of extreme discomfort so I eventually need to throw it back up.

Im 30 now and dont vomit anymore but I drink a digestive helping medicine pretty much every day after dinner. It doesn't really bother me that much but it's affected my life in a way that I am very very picky as to which restaurants I will go to socially and I wont try any food that I havent tried by I was like 10 years old because I am afraid what kind of reaction the foreign smell and taste will do to my stomach. That's why I have never tried Indian food in my life, many Chinese food, many South East Asian (except for Vietnamese) etc.

When I go out it is literally one of the four: western, burger king, vietnamese pho or Korean.

Anyway, its so fascinating how much influence the brain and stress has to our body.
