Every WWE European Champion, 1997-2002

This thread plus the IC title one made me stop and think about D'Lo Brown's career - and just how much the accident with Droz basically destroyed Brown's career in WWE.

As recently as six weeks before the accident Brown had been IC Champ (his first reign), and he was the first person to ever hold the Euro and IC belts at the same time (Kurt Angle's run with both is generally more remembered). He still held the Euro belt at the time of the accident, but lost it just a couple weeks afterward. He technically got his rematch as part of a triple threat two months later, but otherwise was basically made a jobber within the tag division for most of the rest of his tenure aside from a couple of half-hearted stop and start pushes in 2002-03 that both ended as fast as they began.

I started watching WWE in August of 1998, and honestly, out of the entire roster, D'Lo was probably bottom half of the top ten (and remember we're talking Fall 1998 Attitude Era) of the entire roster as far as characters I was immediately drawn to. Having himself introduced from a different city in Europe every week was a beautiful thing. The chest protector was ridiculous but it gave the guy a distinctive look, same with the head shake. Add in that except for the accident he was generally solid in the ring and a solid dude in backstage stuff (he and Henry had ridiculous amounts of chemistry as a duo) and I was SUCH a fan.
