So why exactly will the West do better when collapse comes?

it is because you have never been to any poor part of the world, or are just ignorant of circumstances there.

This is simply a straw-man and I'm not even riled by it. Is there unimaginable poverty in India right now? Yes there is. Is the west dealing with the collapse better? Define better. Is it relative? Is it absolute? Is it relative in year over year terms? Is it between generations?

I'd argue the untouchables of Mumbai haven't really much felt the collapse happening nearly as much as residents of Flint have. And while Somalia is once again the locus of widespread famine, saying that Flint is doing better then Somalia therefor the West is doing better is a very low bar to assert.

The collapse is a multi-faceted thing, with climate deterioration and financial disruption being related but still very distant phenomenon.

Overall, the argument that the west as a monolithic entity will weather the collapse better than, say, the third world is at best exceptionalist and at worst simply denial.
