We where at an athletics day with the school and noticed a teacher confiscating a mobile phone off another student and left the phone in the teachers area unattended.

Now 3 years prior to this I had my bike stolen and because we had insurance on it I got a brand new bike twice the value of the stolen bike, so I started to think I can have an upgrade on anything insured and surely a school has insurance on everything!!

So we stood at the back of the teachers area and lit a cigarette hoping the smell would bring the teacher over.. which it did. Stepped on the cigarette pulled out the phones. Sure enough they were confiscated until the "end of day". When said teacher left the phone unattended we had a friend of ours run in and steal the phones and snap the SIM card (we said if you steal the phones you can keep them)

Got back to school and the principal told us the teacher lost our phones and to give him receipts of the phones. I made up a story that I bought it with cash from a friend of a friend. 2 weeks later had a brand new Nokia 8850. Which at the time was $1000.

We got away with it but because I'm an idiot I told everyone how easy it was. Someone else from my school tried and got caught and he took down himself, his friend and us 2. All expelled.

Tldr. Pulled an insurance scam on my school. They found out.
