Experiences with anaphylaxis?

Before I became a nurse, I had an anaphylaxis reaction to Levaquin that I had gotten for a nasty uti. Only took one pill and my lips started tingling and I started coughing. My husband, now my ex, at the time thought I was being stupid and didn't want to take me back to the er because he let my insurance lap and it was new years day so I didn't have any insurance anymore after midnight. Until he called the er that wrote for the med and they said to either call an ambulance or rush me back to the er now. We ended up at a different er because it was closer and I didn't think I could make it to the other er. I walked in seen the triage nurse handed her my pill bottle said I couldn't breath. Next think I know I was in a while chair being rushed to the back and put on a gurney and o2 given, iv started, epi and benadryl given, and respiratory was giving me a breathing treatment to help open my air way up. My ex didn't even have a chance to fill out the admit papers before I was taken back. The er Dr said my face was the color if the purplish shirt I was wearing. They called the other er and told them what was going on and why we didn't make it there. I can tell you that those nurses and Dr acted fast when I yes I walked in to that er. They didn't mess around and got me treated quickly. I know that they had a full er and I know there was a lot of mad people in that waiting room but the triage nurse was doing her job the right way. The admit clerk wouldn't even let me sit down to a sign in or go to the waiting room to sit. Like you usually have to do. She is the one I think told the nurse we got an emergency and I went straight to her. they all acted quickly. The Dr wanted to keep me over night but because I didn't have insurance I couldn't afford it. It's a sucky way to find out you are allergic to something I can tell you that much. I would take a rash reaction then an anaphylaxis reaction any day.
