I constantly get told I'm not appreciative enough and there's nothing wrong with me because there are people who have it worse.

How do you think I felt reading that. "You have it worse than me."

Don't let anyone convince you of that...

"Everyone's problems are as big as they are in their own world."

It's subjective. This affects you a lot, so it's no less valid. My own problems are nothing compared to that, yet they are huge to me.

I won't give advice, but I'll just say, my family was a lot less damaging than that, yet getting away from them was the best thing I ever did for myself. The only one I genuinely miss is the one who isn't alive anymore.
