Agreed. The “haul” mentality pushed on social media is bringing this nonsense to extremes, and it’s terrible.

But it’s also pretty tricky to find things that are realistically affordable and “ethical” or “sustainable”. For a few weeks I kept thinking I could finally use a few new plain solid color t-shirts for the summer because my old ones are getting pretty ratty.

I happen to see Kelly Slater has launched his own “sustainable” clothing brand with a focus on the environment, and they have plain t-shirts. Cool, I was a Kelly Slater fan back in the day, let’s see what’s up.

Aannnnd… plain t-shirts are $58 each.

I want the sustainable clothing market to grow, but not all of us can drop $500 for a few t-shirts and a pair of jeans.
