Fat guys can do it too

Fuckin bang on.

I've never been obese, just overweight. Also pretty muscular, so I look even bulkier than I am. (Have lost weight since my peak, don't have a gut when I'm standing, little bit of a paunch when I'm sitting.)

Something I still remember from a couple summers ago:

Had been browsing /r/mfa for a couple months, finally learned to tell whether or not clothes fit, but I was still having trouble pulling the trigger on wearing the shirts that intellectually I knew fit, but still felt way too tight.

Hadn't seen a group of friends for a couple months due to end of semester worksmash, decided to just suck it up and wear a properly fitting shirt to a party.

Was a short-sleeve button-down.

Before I go any further: Shut up. It's navy blue, unobtrusive, small floral design, fits me perfect, including sleeves that hit midway down my not-insignificant bicep, shows off my half-sleeve and other assorted tattoos quite nicely.

The main point is that it actually fits me perfectly.

Anyways... I received non-stop compliments on my shirt and on how good I looked. This included the ultimate compliment: An acquaintance of that group, a girl who I still consider far outside my league, dragged me to a bedroom later than night when we were all hammered (she admitted to having been into me for awhile, which confused me even more).

The biggest eye-opener was the next week when an album of the party got posted to Facebook. I fucking looked like how I've always wanted to look. I didn't look overweight at all. I looked jacked.

I think the worst fucking thing you can do when wearing something you think is too tight, even when you know it fits, is look down. Worst perspective ever. Makes your gut and everything just look way bigger than it always is.

Before going out look in a mirror to make sure your buttons are done up properly, you're not tucked into your underwear, and your hair is awesome. Then just fucking forget about what you're wearing.
