The FCC is about to ruin PC gaming for everyone. We need to act now.

Same boat. Got stuck with 6mbit after moving across the country.

There are two DSL providers in my area. The first told me I'd be able to get a bonded service of ~30mbit down (and almost 2mbit up!). I can work with that, I thought, so I bought the house.

When I called to sign up, well, they actually don't service my house, and they're sorry for the trouble. The quote, they say, was only an estimate as well, and therefore f-off.

The second provider did service my house and also offered bonded service. Excellent, I thought, until the technicians arrived to say , actually, there is only one port remaining available in the local switch, sorry about the miscommunication. 6mbit it is.

I was completely willing to take on a loan for the outrageous connect fee from Comcast, because it would also benefit my neighbors and I work remotely. However, my progressive little town says no-how to those 'big box' providers and franchises in favor of the local guy, so they explicitly disallow Comcast to run new service lines.

Oh hi rock, let me introduce you to hard place! Sometimes "choice" doesn't even matter.
