FDNY EMT murdered on the job doesn't get the benefits as firefighters killed.

Yeah, I have it pretty good. I'm not going to lie. We have our issues but I'm in Reno with REMSA. We have fully staffed ALS TEMS and SAR Teams, Bike Teams for downtown, and we are putting out flycars in july. I like out system, most of our problems come from inside REMSA and they are mostly minor. We get paid fair and have average retirement, although we are pretty overdue for across the board pay increases.

Our local FD's have been freaking out and trying to go ALS, but we are the medical authority, we get on scene within min. of each other and about 50/50 on who is first and it's a total waste of money. Not to mention (not to be insulting) but engine medics don't have the best reputation and they have been living up to that. I got on scene on an auto ped a few nights ago and they were about to decompress the chest of a 20yo girl with no thoracic injuries CBLS and a 99% spo2... because, according to them "she's unconscious." Then they tried to bitch that I took time to get access before rolling out when our entire CALL time (scene to trauma room) was 12 min. I can't support this at all, and I think they are being unethical in even telling the city that spending all this money is helpful in any way. And they know it.
