Federal documents: more than 300,000 likely to die if restrictions are lifted

This is Reddit, not really the place you're frequently to get a nuanced, balanced opinion.

With that said, we're in one hell of a predicament right now. The ill effects from completely shuttering the economy are going to be long lasting and severe, yet the ill effects of COVID19 should we reopen too soon and too completely will also be devastating.

This is an unfathomable scenario for modern times, and I'll be damned if I hold any answers here. Generally, lives must be valued more than money, but even that becomes a tricky balance when their health insurance is tied to employment that no longer exists. We are just, as a country, not at all set up to handle something like this gracefully.
