I won't downvote you, but look into the statistics of how many people are in prison for non violent drug related crimes. While you are there look up the statistics for the amount of money alcohol and companies make, and how much they are fighting to keep things the way they are where they dominate the entire market share of that sort or thing. Now, do some research on how where they spend their lobbying money.

Now also let me ask you this. What is the definition of a "hard" one? is it the safety of the thing? or is it actually just the system's labeling of the thing. I'm not saying their labeling is always wrong, since clearly it isn't always wrong. But this should demonstrate to anyone who is basing their thoughts in logic and not in wishy washy "gut feel" (that is conditioned into you by the media and by the echo chamber of everyone mainlining that same information stream) and incomplete information, that safety is NOT the priority here. It is money and power.
