Feel good stories...

I once had a lady come into my store with her younger nephew (around 10 or 11) and shop around for a while. After talking to them for a little I found out that he was very into pokemon. I spent a good 20 minutes just having conversations about all of our favorite pokemon and which generations we prefer. They left me store and I didn't think anything of the interaction until the next week when the Customer Surveys came in.

The lady wrote nearly a whole paragraph about how her nephew was autistic and that normally people treat him differently and shrug him off when he talks to them and she was so grateful that I took my time and had patience with him. She told me it was his best shopping experience and it really made his night.

This really tugged on my heartstrings and nearly brought me to tears. I did not even know about the situation, I was just having a fun conversation about something we shared a passion for.

So the next time I saw them come into the store he immediately recognized me and we struck up another conversation, but this time before they left I decided to purchase the Sleeping Pikachu (His favorite Pokemon) and some booster packs to give to him. His Aunt was nearly in tears thanking me. Its all about giving back to others and treating everyone with respect. This was by far my most feel good story of the 9 years I worked with this company. I will never forget it and hope that others get their own memories.
