Fellow Americans: How would you describe your level of patriotism?

I know i'll come off as an idiot but on a scale of 1-10, I'd be a 10. I fucking love this country so much. I'm not one for blind patriotism and nationalism, I can recognize the faults in our country and I can recognize the shitty things our government does. That doesn't change that I think this is the greatest country on Earth, from the very beginning we've been a place for refugees and people from all sorts of different cultures. That's why it pains me so much to see candidates like Trump saying that they want to ban muslims and build a wall between America and Mexico. That's not America to me, America should be a place that accepts anyone who wants to come. My most radical political view is that I think we should have an open border policy. To the north we have Canada who isn't a threat whatsoever and is one of our closest allies. To the south we have Mexico, which while not doing as well as Canada, is still a bordering country that we should allow immigrants from. Trying to stop immigrants from coming to the US is just so un-american to me it makes me physically sad that people want to do just that.

I think the United States is the greatest country in the world without competition, despite our many problems our greatest strength is that we as a nation are a group of diverse cultures. Europe, which loves to critique us, is essentially the United States. Every state is completely different, some radically so, just like the countries in Europe are completely different. I think it's amazing that we are able to exist as the entity we do, being the largest and most diverse democratic country of all time. I hate when people say that they hate America, I physically grimace. I love this country, plan on serving in the military, and still critique or government as much as the next guy. It's not perfect but no country is, and on the scale of other countries I think we're pretty damn up there.
