The first United States Space Force DD214s are being given out and California state law still doesn’t define them as veterans.

Hey I appreciate that. Feb of 2011 I was in the 75th Ranger Regiment, when the massive downsizing happened I was involuntarily honorably discharged in March 2011 with about a months notice which I think is against regulations but screwed me so hard. I had a broken foot (Va exam had bone fragments still showing from my injury in 2010) in 2013 when I was finallly seen by VA 2 years after applying. Given 0% but service connected, denied for all other claims. Used gi bill for undergrad and grad school @ UC Irvine and Johns Hopkins, and Finally found a VSO that helped me and got P&T in 2020, so a lot better now. Just trying to learn and help other veterans, especially the ones in transition. My only possible plan now besides spending time with wife and kids is maybe try to get ABCMR to do a retroactive medboard medical retirement but I’m not sure how that works since they fucked me over so hard while in. My foot injury was in combat training which technically is combat related injury eligible for both VA and retirement but the paperwork is daunting and the whole thing Is a HUGE trigger tbh. Takes me back to that dark place when I try to get everything together and submitted .
