USAA is trash, and this is why…

Yeah, they are trash. I had a really bad experience with them last year. Nowhere near the same thing as what you've gone though, but up until last year I had them for my Auto and Renter's insurance and they tried charging me twice.

Long story short: I had to go out of Town, so I was trying to save everything I made at the time. I asked to push my bill up a month for the end of the Month after I came back from my trip; the cost of this would've been around $400 (the cost for the two Months missed and late fees). I'm not upset about that, what I got upset about was that when the time comes, and I paid it, they charged me a second time because I paid the bill a day earlier and the system didn't register the payment as complete. I called again and again saying I made the payment (all while they ignored me), until finally someone saw it and told me I had to pay the $400 a second time. I got mad, and told them I shouldn't have been paying what I already paid, but they told me if I didn't pay it, I would lose my insurance and have a mark thrown on my record - making it harder for me to get with another insurance company. I ended up putting the money for the bill aside (in case what I eventually did didn't work), then I wrote a bad review on BBB (Better Business Bureau). About a day or two after that they called me, apologized, and let me pick the rate for the next Month. After that, I went back to Geico for everything.

I've heard from many how they're horrible and the 'deals' they offer are as bad as their customer service which has been horrible for a while now; stay away from them.
