I'm a disabled vet and want to become a California Highway Patrol officer

Thanks for the lecture, but I think there's a bit of nuance to the situation. There are plenty of accomplished, good cops who were in similar circumstances.

My army recruiter bent lots of rules to make sure I shipped to Basic Training. I happily obliged because I was motivated to overcome my circumstances and succeed.

I was a relatively squared away soldier, both overseas and in garrison. I had good relationships with my leadership and peers, and I strived every day to be effective and skilled in my job (MI).

I'm human, I'm not a saint. But I also don't think a bit of pragmatism is going to turn me into a dirty corrupt cop stereotype. I respect the CHP's mission, and I fully intend to be a good asset to my community.
