Fishing Trip

For panfish and the like, pick a lake. I've had a blast at Beaver Lake using a fly rod (you need a pass here). There are some lakes in Dupont that can be fun too.

We've caught bass in the French out towards Rosman and at Lake julia (Dupont).

Trout: So many options here. Do mind the signs as a lot of the trout waters have rules/regs. Davidson and waters feeding into it can be fun, as well as Mills. Both are stocked, so if you yeet out a 22" brookie it's not one that's been there for a while. Explore more and there are many wild water options that are perfect for a 3wt and an Adams. Always debarb your hooks on wild water.

If you want something truly special and are ok with amazing scenery over catching a ton of fish, then Cataloochee might be in order. Beautiful country and a hike can put you into some truly native brookies. They prob won't be trophy size, but they are beautiful fish. You might see elk along the way too.

If you want to go with a guide that gives you more options. Brown Fly Fishing is solid, esp if you can book a trip with Brown. Super nice guy, Orvis guide of the year a few years ago. Does wade and float trips in NC and TN. If you want to venture out west a bit Turning Stones is good, Gordon is a great guy.

Open season just began yesterday, so delayed harvest waters will be hammered now.
