Back in the day the us goverment gave land away for pretty cheap so settlers could come in and populate the new country.

I think this would be a good idea for African Americans affected during redlining in the 1950s. Mainly because it’s very recent and already proven a big factor in wealth inequality.

Instead of money, there could be a land giveaway program. It’ll not be perfect and the land not ideal most times but it would create some equity that individuals could employ at their will. Better than just give every black person $2000-$5000 cash and say oops sorry for that slavery thing that happened to your great great grandfather and they spend it in debt and stuff and we go now where. Land could provide generational opportunities. Same for re to to own scenarios in historically African American areas where big REIT own casts amounts if developments.

And it’s not people of color. It’s African American only. Mexican Americans, Native American and Asian Americans have a different history. We have to stop thinking “White Bad” because we know it’s a few that are real racists who get the spotlight in the GOP side but mainly it’s big corporations taking advantage off the situation and paying congress to pass certain rules that affected African Americans like Redlining districts so they wouldn’t get loans or own a house or insurance etc so they didn’t pass their equity to their kids and never could take advantage of the USA prosperity during that time until now. Just like whites in the past, there’ll be some who will make and some who will not. So just forcing the only 2 black people in town into every picture to make us feel better is just a disservice and a superficial deed akin to twitting BLM while sitting in your mansion and feeling better about those poor people. So land. It’s land that the USA has plenty of. It’s land that own by state and federal governments and it’s land that’s own by huge REIT that the local, state and federal goverments could strike a deal with to provide either land or rent to own housing they own along with thousands of developments. Most affordable housing is own by these huge REIT and working with them to have rent to own scenarios would help them. Because once African Americans have the equity to go to college, start a business then we won’t have to deal with this any longer. We won’t have to pretend that we care and feel good about it. We would just be. And they’ll just be. And we won’t notice much of a difference except for those very vocal extreme rights. You know why? Because that’s how it is in the rest of the Americas where slavery was also a thing. But Brazil, Colombia etc and other places didn’t shove blacks to a corner of the city to hide and make them disappear like it was done in absolutely every city and town in the USA. Which lead to more mixing. And mixing with native Americans and Asians. You cal then latinos now… but that’s what Brown people really are; mixed race for the most part. Right now white people under 18yrs old are not majority any more. So in 10-20 years things will change dramatically. But we cannot still keep African Americans in a corner and just put pretty pictures at a schools and jobs. Giving them equity will help the transition so if they want to stay then cool, if they wan to move they can Since they’ll have equity. But now most are stuck at dead end low wage jobs and high crime areas where police over react and help make them a revolving prison door population. Which lead to more crime and low wages. So land or equity can help break that cycle. Maybe it’s low wage but they’ll pay mortgage instead of rent. Their kids will have a way to use that and break the cycle. So white savior complex? Sure why not but it’s something and doing something that could potentially work and be done in the background. And it’s not pretending there is no racism issue and it’s a liberal agenda or complaining that white people matter too and it’s reverse racism and other Maga antics. And it’s also not a superficial liberal left thing of putting the 2 black folks in every organization photos and saying a lot of sentences with “diversity” in the captions and make plans to give black people some change for something that happened way too long ago and other countries don’t have this issue. To then say bye at the end of the day and see black people go to their low wage, high crime rate, low education neiborhoods that police will come back to do the same as they’ve done since the 1950s thanks to past Redlining policies while we sit back and relax writing in Twitter BLM stuff and patting our jobs saying “good job I helped”. Land. Equity. That’s the answer. There’s land. Goverment can work with REITs or we know there’s plenty of money after that pandemic hit Or some mortgage back security voodoo magic could be packaged these programs into funds that maybe institutional investors can get tax deducted or not get taxed a lot. And African Americans having more wealth helps us all. If there’s a will there’s a way, but plastering black peope into every photo or denying the whole thing is not the way IMO. Also, I’m not American so its more of a foreigner savior complex. Just see things a little different and both sides being wrong won’t get me any up votes .
