Probably a metaphor for today’s society putting too much value into social media identity. The security guard is a nice touch.
I think the point is “Why do you want to take a picture with this mural? There are a million murals you can take a picture of. Do you even want a picture with those murals? So why are you mad that you can’t take a picture with this one?”
You’re mad at the piece because it demands a level of notoriety that you don’t have. But it’s a level of notoriety that we as a group give power to. A lot of social media influencers are useless, but because other people want to be influencers themselves, they empower those at the top in hopes that it pushes them further.
TL;DR: The security guard is part of the mural and so is the anger you feel about it.
