Oh man, storytime.

I invited a good friend of 13 years to go vacation with me in Joshua Tree. Well, we ended up hooking up, even though her bff told me years ago she had herpes. Anyways, I get around asking her about it and she says she actually got HSV-1. So fine, she didn't tell me about the herps since it was only HSV-1 and lots of people have it. Sure ok. Well I start a LDR since she is a fantastic person! and HSV transmission is pretty low. Fast forward 9 months and she is not the person I thought she was, she's showing up with bruises on her hips and legs, or going and getting drunk at ex's house and claiming UTI and looking for a STD check the next day. So, I basically wasted 9 months flying up to hook up with a lying cheat with herpes. Not my proudest moment.

Listen, I know it can be hard to date with herpes. But if she is going to lie by omission to you on something that affects your sexual health, what do you think she is going to do with your emotional health? A lack of honesty is a lack of respect. I'd date someone with herpes again if they were marriage material, otherwise that's quite the stigma to gamble just for short term dating.
