Hi, I haven't read all the comments but I am, in fact, a Serbian person who has lived on more than one continent aside from her own.

His family might sound prejudiced to people who look at things from an Amerocentric point of view but our society is very, very, very homogeneous. This means everyone, literally everyone is white. We have no immigrants because we are a poor country.

His family might not be as racist as they are uninformed. Give them the benefit of the doubt because they FOR SURE never interacted with someone who is not white, perhaps never even saw a person of mixed genetics in real life.

If this was my family, I would label them as racist because my family was indeed exposed to different skin colours. His might not have had that opportunity, so just bear that in mind.
