4) Once land is obtained, renovation and land development may take up to one full year, possibly more. All Members will vote on all land-development decisions. It may take as long as 5 to 10 years to becoming a fully-functional sustainable Community. We are in this for the long-haul and there is never really an "end" when everything is "done". Think of Shambala as an on-going art/collaborative project that is meant to be continually evolving. 5) Once firmly established, Shambala may still have to refinance initial loans. 6) Shambala will use some form of alternative currency for inter-community exchange, not excluding barter and trade. 7) The Shambala Community will build an Educational Conference Center on site and will host educational workshops, Yoga Retreats and will rent it out to third party entities to generate additional revenues for the Shambala Community. 8) Each Community Member is expected to develop some form of boutique/cottage industry to help generate revenue for the Community. Each Member is expected to be active in on-going Fund-Raising Campaigns to supplement our shared Community income. 9) Shambala will be a Shared-Income Community. All Members will share equally in the labor-intensive responsibilities of upholding and maintaining an agricultural/permacultural Community. All Members are expected to embrace and appreciate the value of good, hard work. 10) All Members are expected to sign a Vision Statement~ consensually aligning with our Intentional vision and community mission. All decisions that affect our Community will be decided upon by group vote. There are no official "Leaders" at Shambala. Each member is expected to develop and cultivate Leadership skills. 11) All members must come to Shambala with minimal baggage. Remember, we are moving beyond the "old" world to co=create a new paradise on Earth where Love is the rule. This is not a "trial-run". 12) Each vested Member will have an equal share of the Land Title which will be legally transferred to them as equal co-owners of Shambala. 13) Potlucks, ceremonial gatherings and fellowship will be enjoyed throughout the week. 14) Shambala respects and values all the great wisdom-traditions of the world as making worthy contributions in the on-going quest toward our collective understanding of the Great Unfolding Mystery of Being. 15) Shambala is Spiritually Eclectic, Non-Dogmatic, Diverse, Inclusive, Pacifistic, Ecumenical and Non-Denominational in it's approach. ~ Our core group should expect to be participating in weekly meetings until our dream is realized. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Shambala ~ A Sanctuary for Awakening to Your True Nature Shambala is a Intentional Community and Visionary Sanctuary for aspiring Buddhas and Bodhisattvas. It is a Sanctuary for spiritual seekers agreeing to co-exist in peaceful co-habitation, daily work and play, artistic endeavor, inner exploration, permacultural designing, developing new models of self-sufficiency and sustainable living, the practice of mindfulness, defining and holding sacred intention and creating a vibrant, life-affirming and positively-charged atmosphere of bliss, tranquility and happiness. Shambala is a community of awakening beings seeking collective enlightenment thru a shared, common life grounded in love and service to one another. Shambala’s landscapes, architecture, lay-out and design are based upon Sacred Geometry, particularly The Golden Mean~ PHI, which is embedded throughout Nature and is the core generative component and blueprint of Nature’s infinite abundance, expansion, economy, efficiency, magnificent beauty and healing power. Yoga and Mindfulness Meditation are part of the daily routine of all who share loving space at Shambala, with Sunrise and Sunset Yoga being a very special opportunity for the entire community to gather as One in Sangha, or spiritual fellowship. Shared meals are also followed by kirtan, bhajan, nirupan, and satsang. Sacred Studies and Spirit Science are at the core of the Shambala experience, allowing all participants to more deeply penetrate the mysteries and experience the Gnosis of first-hand experience of the Divine in our midst. Shambala is a place for personal renewal, reorientation, rebirth and for blissful opportunities to experience all that we were designed to experience by the Great Oneness that surrounds us, enfolds us and which is in and thru all things and all beings. “Wash away my troubles, wash away my pain With the rain in Shambala Wash away my sorrow, wash away my shame With the rain in Shambala [...] Everyone is lucky, everyone is kind On the road to Shambala Everyone is happy, everyone is so kind On the road to Shambala [...] How does your light shine, in the halls of Shambala?” ~ from the song, "Shambala" ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ It is inevitable that when a group of mature, consenting adults decide to gather and live together in a Community with a Sacred Intention, that some others will cry "CULT"!!!! Ultimately, it's pointless to try to convince others who functi on with an agenda of judgement and labeling. Just know and understand that the classic definition of a Cult describes centralized power invested in one "Charismatic Leader" who imposes dogma and doctrine upon his/her "followers", who by then have been divested of their individuality after being asked, no, REQUIRED to leave their intellect and reason at the door. Since Shambala is built and based upon an open-source model of decentralized, equally-shared power- there is no basis for such silly accusations. Since there are no single Leaders at Shambala and since everyone is encouraged and even trained to develop Leadership Skills, and since Facilitation at meetings will be shared from person-to-person on a weekly basis, there can be no ONE "Charismatic Leader", but hopefully DOZENS! : D Although there is definitely a spiritual component to Shambala, everyone is free to seek and discover and share their own truth in their own way as we all are on a grand "Quest for Spirit". Remember too that normal, healthy human beings have no problem with acknowledging the presence of Spirit in their individual and collective lives. The spiritual impulse is embedded deep within our being, and as with other natural urges and instincts, it is unhealthy to suppress it or deny it. At Shambala, individuality is praised as a holy and sacred gift. Each one of us brings a fresh and unique perspective that is NEEDED by the rest of us. As Individuals, we all allow the Great Spirit to experience Itself thru the agency of our individual lives and our own personal thoughts and feelings~ how wonderful and beautiful is that?!! : D As far as the role of reason and intellect, quite the opposite of the classic cult model- we ONLY allow Thinkers at Shambala. Brain-dead individuals would never pass the application process. We believe that everyone should be pursuing a lifelong course of self-education and we absolutely encourage book reading, deep study and philosophical discussion of the highest order. So if anyone ever tries to label Shambala a "cult", we recommend that you do not even engage such silliness, or should you decide to, keep it light-hearted and invite them to come out for a visit and have the Shambala experience and see for themselves! OneLove! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ From Maressa Fonger: "I'm interested in intentional communities because that's what my soul yearns for. in my heart I feel it's the way we're meant to live - living co-creatively with nature and with each other in a dynamic, free, loving, equal opportunity, and fulfilling community. I see ecovillages/intentional communities as the next step in our evolution, for at the heart of the idea is the epitome of our Rights as Humans on this planet and is the way people have thrived as cultures way before the industrialized world. Evolvefest is basically an intentional community...all we would need would be some permanent dwellings, an economy of some sort, permaculture, and everyone bringing their talents and trades together to create heaven on earth. hell yeah!"
