Free Talk Friday

Alright, buddy. You asked for it. Started hanging with girl about 2 months, we'd talk everyday and see each other about twice a week - both in Uni. About 2 weeks ago, I think "Hey, seems like she wants to date me, I think that should be alright if I asked her out." Did that and boy, was I wrong. While she did want to date me, I couldn't care less and being in a relationship bothered me because I didn't know how to say/express the sappy-feely stuff. I'd say it but in my head I was like "Eh, whatever. Just say it because that's what she wants to hear." Things are going along, however for the second weekend in a row, I get drunk to very drunk around her. First time was with her, second time was with some guys from my team - I was trashed. Both times there were issues in that I did something bad. First, I was too close to one of her friends and she got pissed about it but we talked about it and it was okay. Second time, I went over to her's at 2 AM, still trashed, woke her up, she let me in and then I threw up and destroyed her bathroom. Next morning, visibly angry and upset - she asked that I leave as she had worked to do and later asked me to stop by to talk. It was during this time that I realized I wasn't exactly top shelf dating material, some would call me an absolute idiot, and since I didn't quite feel really into the relationship - I should quit. So I went over and broke up with her, she wasn't happy and I don't think she'll ever be wanting to see again. Very understandable. What I need your help understanding is: Are 40 year old single men with like maybe 5 dogs still considered just as creepy as 40 year old men with cats? Also, what 5 dogs should I get. I'm 22 y/o and heading nowhere particular.
