The other day I admitted in a thread that I rate anime such that 7 = average. I came back a few hours later to find that I had been chosen subject of the exclusion ceremony. Apparently, this is a forbidden practice, and 5 is objectively the average.
So, after brooding for a significant amount of time, I went ahead and renormalized my list such that 5 = average (using what I consider to by my "model average anime", Angel Beats). This produced a list with an average score of ~7, compared to a previous average of ~8. I also produced another utilizing a "stack ranking" normalization method, such that the average of all the anime I've watched comes out to be 5:
anime | 7 = average | 5 = average | Stack ranking |
---|---|---|---|

The third normalization method is utterly ridiculous from an objective perspective (I highly enjoyed Chu2, seems ridiculous to give it a 3 just because I don't watch a lot of garbage anime to pad out the bottom), but reveals the most information about how I actually rank anime.
