Frequent travellers of Reddit, what is the most dangerous situation you have been in, and where did the incident occur?

This was six years ago. Me and three of the most badass guys I knew were backing packing europe. We meet up in the UK with six US marines on leave, we all kinda make a new group and work together as we're heading the same way. We come across a group of gypsies who claimed to own the road and we had to pay a toll. We laughed and refused, they told us we could pay or fight. Well All six marines carried big mag flash lights that double as clubs and we almost had a group fight, there were 14-15 gypsies. Then we decided we'd pick one from each group who would fight, the winner won passage or the toll of the other group. I'll call this guy "john" he was my friend, instructor in bjj, mma fighter 6'1" 235lbs, we agree he is the one to fight. The gypsies pick this guy who was 6'4-5" 210lbs to fight. Its a "hands only" fight, no take downs or kicks etc. John lights this guy up for around 90 seconds before he connects hard and drops the guy. That guy had fencing response but was able to stand after 30 seconds, he gets his hands up and john just rushes him, hits him 2-3 times before he puts the guy out cold face down. He is on his knees after 30 seconds and they give him some water and the fight starts again. John walked forward and hits him once and this guy was out cold on his back snoring and having a seizure. They still tried to make us pay a toll, said john cheated and it was only when they realized we'd be willing to fight and fight until either they or we were dead that they let us go. This discussion was around 5 minutes long and their chosen fighter was still unconscious even when we left. I'm glad they let us go, no telling how bad it could have been.
