Fuck City Bank

Bank tellers can also be biased as fuck. I had a teller refuse to cash a check for $1k because she "didn't recognize the bank" it was from. It was from a federal credit union. I was perfectly polite in requesting to cash it and did not argue beyond asking why when she told me she wouldn't cash it.

I had 6k in my account at the time with a rolling 5-10k monthly amount, and she refused to cash it because she didn't know the credit union. She told me I could deposit it and withdraw cash from my account while it cleared, which seemed like an unnecessary step and I didn't want to go along with it so I left to not give her the satisfaction. I guarantee her personal discretion on this choice was biased because of my appearance in having alternative dress, visible tattoos, and piercings. I went to another branch of the same bank the same day and had no issues. They even apologized for my experience at the other branch and told me they'd follow up with them, but I doubt they did.

So, yeah, maybe there is more to this, but also it's entirely possible the teller was being an ass from the jump because they feel like they can when they don't like the person they're dealing with.
