Because if Ric can't adapt to this car that won't be a problem for next year and since next year there's so much changing

right but considering he struggled to adapt to a different car within the same regulations what to say he will adapt any better to a completely different car from an entirely different set of regulations? if you are going to make the argument that he struggled to adapt the first year with a new car well the argument will remain true for next year as well.

imo McLaren will stick with him, they tried hard to get him and i'm sure they have trust in him as Danny is a decent driver after all.

However i also think it would be a more shrewd move to secure a driver who is currently performing at a higher level than Ric with potential to improve now that Lando is proving he could lead the team.
